Lindsay Lohan is quite a controversial character of our days. She’s had a long history of road disasters that would make any
insurance underwriter cringe. If you haven’t heard about them, here’s a short list of what LiLo has been up to in the last couple of years.
On July 24th, 2007 Lindsay Lohan drove while intoxicated and chased a car at high speed for more than five miles. The victims were Michele Peck, the mother of her former assistant, and Tracie Rice.
Tracie suffered from panic attacks for many years to come, lost her job and had to seek mental counseling. She racked up huge medical bills that had to be covered by LiLo’s insurer. The victims didn’t know who was chasing them and thought they were being carjacked.
Earlier this year, a jury ruled that the two victims have to be compensated with more than half a million dollars.
The actress does it again in November 2011 – she is caught with DUI. Fox News columnist Mercedes Colwin is outraged at how an American citizen convicted for driving under influence is sentenced to 5 (five!) hours of jail time. LiLo checked into prison at 8pm and was back home by 2am. The journalist feels that it’s high time the law system did something about it and forced her into rehab, as she obviously won’t do it by herself.
Early this year, the actress was sued by a paparazzo over an accident that happened in January 2010. He claims he was badly injured when the car in which LiLo was riding tried to make a fast escape from the parking lot of a club in Hollywood and hit him. The photographer had to receive medical assistance for orthopedic and neurological injuries and demands financial compensation of “a reasonable amount”. He is suing Lohan, even though she wasn’t the one behind the wheel, because the driver was allegedly operating the vehicle at her directions.
Lindsay Lohan tries to maneuver the car in a crowd full of paparazzi after leaving the Sayers Club in Hollywood and hits the very manager of Hookah Lounge, another popular VIP hangout place in Los Angeles. She flees the scene before the police get there.
No injuries were reported and the 26 year old manager didn’t press any charges against the actress at the moment. However, he was transported to an emergency room shortly thereafter and stated that he considers filing a formal complaint.
LiLo was pulled over by the police shortly after the incident. The officials stated that they had an open investigation for a
hit and run, but the actress wasn’t in any trouble at that moment. A police spokesperson puts her off the hook later on in an interview for Radar Online: “since no crime, injuries or damages occurred, we have no intention of speaking to her about the incident”.
LiLo is definitely not a lucky person when it comes to cars. The second incident in March 2012 brings her some good and some bad news. The good news is that she wasn’t driving and the bad news is that she lent her Porsche to a friend’s 22 year old son, who managed to wreck it. The entire right side is full of scratches and dents. The kid’s insurance will cover the accident, and his mother promised she would cover all extra eventual expenses.
